​São José Cemetery

Considered one of the oldest cemeteries in Ponta Grossa, it first opened in 1881. The cemetery is home to the graves of prominent figures in Ponta Grossa’s history, as well as many works of art, whether in the architecture of the mausoleums or in the beauty of the sculptures that adorn the tombs.
Among the most notable graves are that of the Baron of Guaraúna, dating from 1893, and that of Corina Portugal, from 1889, which attracts many visitors because it is considered “miraculous.” It is a simple, small grave, but one that holds significance due to the tragic story of Corina Portugal’s death. People call her a saint for performing miracles and answering prayers, bringing letters with requests, plaques, and ribbons expressing gratitude for answered prayers.
