​Buraco do Padre

​

The site’s name is linked to the history of the Jesuit priests who used to meditate there. Buraco do Padre is a cave that features an impressive 30-meter waterfall inside, formed by the Quebra Perna River. It is a sort of underground amphitheater. To reach the cave, you must hike a 1-kilometer trail on foot that includes natural obstacles. Access is easy, but people with limited mobility may have difficulty climbing over the rocks.

It is located in the Itaiacoca Region and is a Conservation Unit; camping is not permitted on this site. In 2005, it became part of the then-newly created Campos Gerais National Park.
Access to the site is via the Talco Highway (PR 513) at km 14. From the UEPG Uvaranas Campus, travel 16 km and turn right onto an unpaved road. After 6 km, turn left to reach Buraco do Padre. 

Inside the park, you can hike along the trails; the main trail (which leads to the waterfall) is easy to navigate and features walkways in the more challenging sections, allowing easy access to the mouth of the gorge. Taking a dip or a shower under the waterfall in the icy water is essential for leaving the area feeling reenergized.

To round out your visit, there are barbecue grills available for visitors to use, where you can have a picnic or barbecue. Be sure to bring your own charcoal. The availability of the grills depends on the number of visitors; no reservation is required, and there is no additional charge.

In addition, there’s Café do Lobo, a café located inside Buraco do Padre Park, open on weekends and holidays. The menu features drinks, a variety of sweet and savory treats, as well as the famous Ham Sandwich and, for dessert, the Cachoeira Milkshake. 

Also near the park are Kaffee Loch and Adega Porto Brazos, where you can enjoy good food and drinks.

• Pets are not allowed in the park;

• Rock climbing is prohibited in the cave area;

• No open fires of any kind are permitted in the Park; barbecues are prohibited;

• Dispose of trash only in designated areas;

• Smoking is prohibited on Park grounds;

• Keep an eye on your belongings; the Park administration is not responsible for any items left behind or lost during your stay;

• Rock climbing is prohibited in the Furna area; access to climbing areas is permitted only on foot;

• The administration is not responsible for any problems that may occur during your stay in the Park, nor for any accidents that may occur while rock climbing.
