The Heralds of the Gospel are an International Association of the Faithful of Pontifical Right, the first to be established by the Holy See in the third millennium, which took place on the liturgical feast of the Chair of St. Peter (February 22) in 2001.

Composed predominantly of young Catholics—both men and women—this association is present in 78 countries. Its members in consecrated life practice celibacy and devote themselves entirely to the apostolate, living in houses specifically designated for young men or young women, where they alternate a life of retreat, study, and prayer with evangelization activities in dioceses and parishes, placing special emphasis on the formation of youth.

Although they do not take vows and remain in the lay state—with the exception of a few who embrace the path to the priesthood—the Heralds of the Gospel seek to practice the evangelical counsels in all their fascinating purity.

They normally live in community (male or female), in an atmosphere of fraternal charity and discipline. In their houses, an intense life of prayer and study is fostered, following the wise guidance of Pope John Paul II:

“The fundamental goal of the formation of the lay faithful is an ever clearer discovery of their own vocation and an ever greater readiness to live it out in the fulfillment of their own mission” (Christifidelis Laici, 58).
