Resurrection Abbey

​

Nine abbey monks (a group of monks living under the guidance of an abbot, a kind of bishop) came from São Paulo to Ponta Grossa in 1981, and the bishop settled them in Vila Velha. In 1983, the monks purchased a plot of land, renovated the existing houses, and built the monastery.

The monks lead a life of prayer, discipline, study, and work.
They are renowned for their extensive promotion of Gregorian chant; in 1994, the monastery gained national recognition due to special programs and news reports in Brazil and abroad.
They welcome countless laypeople and members of religious orders who, as visitors or guests, seek moments of contemplation, prayer, and spiritual guidance.

Notes: The monastery has a small guesthouse to accommodate visitors, provided they make a reservation in advance, and a small shop where the monks sell some handmade products they produce themselves, such as preserves, liqueurs, candles, ceramic pieces, paintings on various materials, as well as liturgical vestments, books, CDs, and tapes of Gregorian chant.

Location: The monastery is located in Colônia Euridice. Access is via Souza Naves Avenue, at Km 9.

Prayer times: Tuesday through Saturday at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
Sunday at 4:20 a.m., 6:15 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.
